7 AI prompts for product lifestyle images
Lifestyle images outsell plain white backgrounds — but only when the scene feels real. These seven patterns cover most products. Swap in your product and settings.
The base formula
Every strong prompt has four parts: product + scene + mood/lighting + camera. Skip any one and the image looks fake.
1. The everyday-use scene
"Product photo of [product] in use on a [surface] in a real [home/outdoor] setting, [person/animal] interacting naturally, morning light, shot on 50mm lens, shallow depth of field, realistic, 4k."
2. The hands-on close-up
"Close-up of hands holding [product] against a soft neutral background, warm side light, crisp texture detail, commercial e-commerce style."
3. The flat-lay top-down
"Top-down flat lay of [product] with a few complementary props on a [marble/linen] surface, soft diffused daylight, negative space top-right for text."
4. The in-context hero
"[Product] standing on [surface] with a blurred [relevant environment] behind it, midday sun, clean minimal composition, product sharply in focus."
5. The size/scale shot
Shoppers need to judge size. Place it next to a familiar object (a hand, a standard bottle) so scale reads instantly.
6. The benefit-in-action
Show the problem being solved: a spill being wiped, a pet drinking, a bag packed tightly. Emotion converts.
7. The A+ banner wide shot
"Wide cinematic shot of [product] on the left third, clean space on the right for headline text, soft gradient background, premium brand feel."
Two rules
- Accuracy first. Always use your real product photos as reference so the AI doesn't invent the wrong shape or label.
- Keep the product identical across the set. Consistency builds trust; a set that looks like seven different products doesn't.
